ABOUT THE COURSE

The Thompson Women’s Training Institute, Cuttack offers an Elementary Teacher Programme for preparing teachers for elementary schools (primary and upper primary/middle). This Elementary Teacher Education Programme shall be of a duration of two academic years. There shall be at least 160 teaching days in a year exclusive of period of admission, examination, etc. Besides, every teacher trainee shall be required to undergo internship in teaching (including practice teaching/skill development) at least for 40 days in nearby elementary schools. Apart from teaching of foundation subjects, there shall be provision for teaching of methods subjects relating to primary and upper primary curriculum.

After duly completion of two academic years training every teacher trainee shall be appeared the Certified Teacher Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Orissa, Cuttack.

Days for admission – 10 working day

Teaching Day per year – 160 working Days

Supervised Practice Teaching in Schools    - 40 working days

Examination Days – 10 working Days
